A group of about 15 of us came here today (day after Christmas) and spent over $1000 for lift passes, rentals, and such. While the rest of the group is waiting in line to by the lift passes (for over an hour), an older ski instructor with a giant chip on his shoulder comes up to me and speaks utterly disrespectfully. Apparently someone in our group had a bag of outside food that they had brought in (the horror!!!) with some snacks and this jerk starts hauling it off. I told him that it was ours, and he informs me in the most condescending way you can imagine that there are two signs indicating no outside food, then demands that I get up right then and there and take it away - "you said it's yours, didn't you, is it yours... it's yours, right?" as I'm still processing what this guys problem is and what he is even asking me to do. Apparently he wanted me to leave my laptop, my wife's purse, and all our group's miscellaneous stuff unattended and take the bag out to the car. He told me that if I'm too stupid to read the signs then he doesn't trust me to be out on the slopes to ski. Maybe this guy doesn't understand how life works - as I type this I can count something like 20 signs posted on just about every flat surface in the place, and as we were coming in, we were hauling all sorts of gear in and managing small children and answering their various questions, and the last thing we were doing was stopping to read the dozens of signs everywhere.
And let me be clear - my problem has nothing to do with the 'no outside food' policy. If this guy had respectfully told me about the policy and asked me to take the food out to the car, then I wouldn't be typing this up right now.
There are other options around to ski. We drove over an hour to come here, but there was another option the same distance, and we'll be going there next time - I certainly will do everything I can to never give this place another dime. I seriously don't understand how people like this grumpy older ski patrol guy think they can treat their paying customers so disrespectfully and get away with it.
So come here if you want to be treated like crap by disrespectful people while you wait FAR longer than you should have to wait just to get your lift passes and rentals. Apparently they'd rather have their employees be giant jerks to their customers rather than get a 2nd person on the register to get the line moving.
Or better yet, go somewhere else.
Update - just learned the guy who was so disrespectful to me is the owner. So this wasn't a poorly trained employee who was having a bad day. My wife went and talked to him and he doubled down.
2nd update - owner just came and apologized. Said he was sorry for being curt with me earlier. So credit where...
Read moreI hardly ever leave a bad review but we went to Andes yesterday because they had an advertisement online stating that a family could get 4 tubing tickets 4 lift tickets and $10 in food for $100 dollars. When we get there my family of 7 did not qualify for this offer because there were 7 of us instead of 4 (none of which was on the advertisement) and the same number of tickets were over $200. My son has a season pass and has his own stuff. So basically there were 6 of us and I only needed a lift pass to help my small kids on the tubing lift. We should have left when they told us at the desk but we drove an hour each way to get there so we paid the ransom and went in. I took my daughters down the tubing run and it hadn't been groomed on the bottom so it was rough as a plowed field and because of this my 2 youngest daughters got hurt on the first run and didn't want to go again. They both cried for about 15 minutes which is awful. Because of this I ended up driving them home to dress their wounds bruises cuts and scrapes and then had to turn right around and pick up the older kids who were skiing. I spent my day in the car and spent twice as much to do so. I am very upset and the folks in silicon valley can keep taking this post down but I will keep right on posting to save another family from the misery. The 3 older kids got to ski but we got no use out of 5 of the tickets we bought and we spent twice what was advertised and worst of all my 7 and 4 year old daughters got bruises and cuts which is simply not acceptable. I have tried repeatedly to post this review and it keeps getting taken down. I find this to also be unacceptable.. Shame on you Andes. And shame on the entity who is...
Read moreI am a disabled combat veteran with a trained service dog. Today, January 1st, 2024 at 5pm, I was told by the woman in the dining area that my service dog was not allowed to be there. I informed her that ADA law states that he can go anywhere i go. She said "no" and told me to go to the manager at the front desk. I walked to the front desk to ask for the manager and was confronted by Manager Tom very rudely telling me that my service dog was not allowed in the building and said there was a sign at the entrance then proceded to ask me if i knew how to read. I politely told him that we have paid for our tickets and have been in the building for the last 2 hours. He asked me for paperwork and if i didnt have them then i would have to leave. Called me a liar when i told him the service dog registry is an online scam and anybody can buy one and that, per ADA laws, he is only allowed to ask me 2 questions. He proceeded to belittle me in front of everyone, even when the sweet employee Kelly told him i was telling the truth. Kelly was the ONLY one in the establishment that knew ADA laws, she needs a raise! Tom made Kelly and i cry with his disgusting language. Kelly tried to apologize for his behavior but something NEEDS to be done because he violated FEDERAL LAW. There is a reason the ADA laws have to be followed. I am going to speak to a lawyer regarding how we will go about this, so that others that come after me dont have to be disrespected like Tom disrespected me today.
Below is a screenshot of the 8 minute video i have, and you can see Tom smirking after breaking ADA laws. Because once he saw that I started recording, he ran to hide...
