Crooked Willow — Attraction in Alexandria

If you are looking for a one of a kind wedding experience, then look no further than Crooked Willow. It isn't just the views and scenery that is one of a kind; Derek and Jody Virkus represent what wedding venues should be. My wife and I had a few venues scheduled to be toured the same day. We came to Crooked Willow first, and within 10 minutes of meeting the Virkus' we knew we were not going to get married anywhere else. Their quality of service matches the quality of character. They were fair with price and flexible with payments. The bar staff was efficient and friendly. Although we were the clients, they made us feel in charge. Whatever we needed or wanted for our special day was accommodated, within reason. They even helped us with some of the decoration ideas. The day of the wedding, they were present from the start of the day, til the end. Throughout the day they were always a call or text away. There was never a time where this felt like a business exchange. This truly felt like we were getting married on a relative's property. I would highly recommend Crooked Willow as a wedding venue to anyone and everyone. Even if their wedding venue didn't include the one of a kind sights, I would still choose them because of how well they took care of me and my bride.

A true testament of the kind of people Derek and Jody are is when my mother arrived as a surprise guest. My mother has Multiple Sclerosis and is wheel chair bound living in a nursing home. This was intended to be a special moment for just my family, but it became magical for everyone in attendance. They played a significant role in making this surprise happen. They knew how important this was to me and from their genuine tears it was evident it was important to them too. I will cherish this memory for the rest of my life.

We recently got married at this wonderful venue! I'd like to leave an honest review. Everything about the day was perfect. Weather, food, organization, drinks you name it. As the couple we didn't worry about one thing. Jody and Derek were responsive and attentive to our needs. The amenities that are seen online and in the tour are even better in person on the day of.

I rated them 4/5 for the following reason. If I could rate a 4.5-4.75 I would but at least you will look at this vs. scroll over multiple 5 stars (well deserved). Reason being singular. When you arrive at the venue the tables, chairs, linens inside the reception area were not set up. And for very good reason! As Jody discussed with us after the event happened. The reason for the deduction was that we were not aware of this prior to walking in the morning of. It was assumed by our party that they would be set up. It worked out because we had a lot of family to help set up but it was a mild inconvenience to our family who wasn't prepared for that chore. And it definitely would be a inconvenience for someone who doesn't have help.

We asked after the fact if there would be a more clear description of what set up looked like as we didn't know. Not their fault because the reasoning is solid! (easier to set tables, linens, floral and cater to your seating chart ect.). And they obliged.

From start to finish, our wedding at Crooked Willow was absolutely magical. The venue itself is breathtaking. It provided the perfect backdrop for our special day, and we couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful setting.

What really stood out, though, was how Derek and Jody handled an unexpected situation. We experienced a short power outage while getting ready, but Derek and Jody were on top of it immediately! They had backup generators running in no time, ensuring that we could continue getting ready without missing a beat. Their professionalism and calmness in such a stressful moment really made all the difference, and it just goes to show how much they care about their couples.

Derek and Jody were an absolute pleasure to work with. From the very first meeting, they made us feel like family. They were incredibly accommodating, helping us with every detail and making sure our vision came to life perfectly. Their attention to detail, organization, and care were truly exceptional.
