
Viking Speedway has to be one of the best tracks to watch if you want to experience the raw power of dirt track racing. The big 1/2 mile high banked tracks allow the cars to unleash all their potential.. The rumble from the cars, as can be seen by some of the whining reviewers, can be felt for miles.. 20+ cars around 500 HP is on par with locomotives, container ships, cargo planes with the grassroots aspect of being from local garages. The track configuration allow for a good deal of passing but it does appear that with the high speeds the air plays a factor and the leaders tend to hold their spot more so than the smaller tracks (1/4 mile). Read moreDecent track if you're only interested in half of the race. Move the trucks and trailers out of the infield so fans can see the race. You can only see the far side of the track from the top third or so of the grandstand so for most fans you only see the front straight and turns one and four, lots of stuff happens that leaves you wondering what is going on. The fans really weren't engaged in the races much at all and looked at us funny for clapping after a particularly exciting race. Read moreSuch a great local speedway. Very family friendly, lots of kids activities such as the candy drop by a racedriver who goes up to the flagman stand. Over Labor Day Weekend kids received free Coke products and school backpacks. The track is well maintained for high quality racing. Viking Speedway is still a half mile clay track, while most area tracks have gone to quarter mile or 3/8 mile, so it is exciting to see these race cars fly around the high banked track at...
