I first learned about Stranger Factory by passing by it going through Nob Hill but I never got the chance to go inside. I checked their website to see what they’re all about, and it mentioned “post-modern, pop realism art” styles which spiked my interest even more. I wanted to go to this store in the hopes of finding something unique to itself that I could take home with me. As soon as you step foot in the door, there’s a plethora of cool, weird little novelties to rummage through. When you venture deeper into the store, it turns into a small exhibit, displaying prints of mysterious, eccentric art. I really liked the feeling inside of the store, every piece of art was recognizably different from one other. It was fun to explore because you didn’t know what you would see next. The layout of the store was pleasant to walk through and neatly set up. The prices vary depending on what you want. The smaller novelty items are at a good price, but the larger art prints are understandably priced. It felt like being a little kid again, looking through the toys and trinkets. Overall, my experience here was great. I bought a sticker from an artist who turned out to be the cashier, and he even threw in a cool pin for free. This place is definitely for anyone who likes weird art that you don’t see anywhere else, and it feels good spending your money knowing that it’s helping support smaller,...
Read moreI didn't give this place one star because art gallery IS cool and props for supporting local artists, but BEWARE SELLS COUNTERFEIT JAPANESE MERCHANDISE! I was SO disappointed after I got home. I've bought a gazillon Japanese figurines direct from Japan, so I can't believe such an obvious fake got me but I wasn't on my guard since I was in town :( Notice "Snow Miku" is mis-typed, product unopened but dirty, "petite" is spelled wrong as "petit" and anyway the Japanese says "Nendoroido purasu" not "Nendoroid Puchi" as it would for Nendoroid petite. (Have not tried to return it so maybe they'd be cool, but I don't feel like having the unpleasant "you sell fakes" encounter over $6. If I do try to return, I will...
Read moreThis is my favorite store in Albuquerque! It is fun, funky and fresh and I absolutely LOVE IT. I have been shopping here for years and always find something new and exciting to take home with me and/or buy as a gift for friends and family. They have the cutest gallery space and really highlight the talent of local artists.
Whenever I have visitors come from out of town, Stranger Factory is always on the "must-see" list. All of that being said, the staff is great too. Karl is super friendly and knowledgeable and a great artist to boot! Check them out. You won't be...
