I had such a great time exploring this beautiful park! Ranger Coleman was very informative and friendly and made me feel very welcome. I can't wait to visit again! The trailhead at Santa Elena canyon was under water from recent rains and I definitely want to explore that trail the next time I'm there. What a beautiful park and friendly informative staff! Amazing!

DON'T STOP. Station was closed, no hours posted (May 14). Outdoor bathroom was available but was so bad I didn't even take a picture. Pit toilet was full of feces and flies swarming. No maps available except for a permanent sign on the outside. A small sign on the door said to proceed to Panther Junction which is 27 miles away!

This visitor center was closed for the summer when we visited in September 2021, and so were the visitor centers at Rio Grande Village and Castolon. Only Panther Junction and Chisos Basin were open in the summer. There were some informational signs outside and a nice shaded picnic table where we had lunch.

Beautiful views and a great place to hike! Will post photos soon!

As aways the volunteers are great and give the best advice! There is a wealth of information in the visitor center from books to maps! Things about Big Bend books on the animals and birds you will see around the area. Hiking guides I suggest the Falcon guide best one for Big Bend! Books on...
