What a great area to hike! For those of you not familiar with Arizona’s diversity here is a treat. About 3.5 hours north of Phoenix Valley and at 9k feet elevation the temperature will be about 20-30 degrees cooler and the green will overwhelm your desert eyes. The trails intersect and make a loop or you can do an out and back hike depending on your fitness or time available. The peak is off limits as it is on the White Mountain Apache Reservation. Trail is moderate to difficult with plenty of views. Just a sneak peak of trail #95. Plenty of wildlife in the area, Elk, Coyote, Wolves, bobcats and mountain lions. Don’t forget You are in bear country, so having bear spray is a good idea just in case. Better to have it and not need it. Not to mention it works on other animals if you happen to come across something aggressive.

This was a beautiful trail, I would definitely do it again. It was easy to get to, and the length we did was not difficult terrain at all, fairly well marked. We brought 2 little kids, so probably went about 2 miles in, had a picnic by the water, and hiked out, did not complete the whole trail. My husband called the area "magical" 😊!

Hiked on July 4th as a loop; East Baldy up and West Baldy down and spur trail back to East Baldy Parking lot. West Baldy trail is one of the most beautiful trails I have been on in AZ. Little Colorado river runs alongside fills you with joy. Breathtaking meadows and moderate incline makes this hike a must do for everyone.

West Baldy West Baldy is the high sub-peak to Mount San Antonio (Mount Baldy). It is the second highest named point in the San Gabriel Mountains and Los Angeles County. Mount Baldy itself can have quite a crowd during the weekend whereas West Baldy you can usually stand alone finding solitude. The view from West Baldy includes much of the same as Baldy but with deeper views into the steep Fish Fork drainage and a closer view of San Antonio Ridge. Bighorn sheep also seem to make more appearances on...
