It felt like stumbling upon a hidden treasure, a secluded haven waiting to be explored. The park's prominent feature was a paved trail winding through the park, revealing signs of wear and disrepair in some sections. Despite this, the trail offered a fair amount of elevation change, branching off into different directions. While the path rarely offered the comfort of shade, it did provide hikers with an engaging hike that typically takes about 30 minutes to complete. The landscape was predominantly characterized by vast grasslands, occasionally punctuated by patches of wood that added a touch of wilderness to the scenery. What truly set this park apart was the breathtaking vista it offered - a panoramic view of distant hills and mountains, a sight that evoked a sense of adventure and wanderlust. On the day of my visit, a gentle fall breeze rustled through the grass, creating a delightful contrast with the bright sun overhead. The freshly cut grass bore witness to the care that the park's groundskeepers put into maintaining the area. However, the recent presence of strong winds had left its mark, uprooting a tree and serving as a reminder of nature's power. One intriguing but slightly eerie feature was the presence of an old, seemingly abandoned building. It piqued my curiosity, tempting me to explore its mysteries further. Yet, a sense of caution prevailed, and I wisely decided to forgo the temptation. Overall, my experience at this park was genuinely pleasant, with its combination of picturesque views and an engaging trail. I would readily recommend it to anyone who enjoys a leisurely walk amidst natural beauty and the allure of...
Β Β Β Read moreIt's incredibly disappointing that they have changed the rules for the dogs. All the great reviews for Amberley Green are from dog owners, so now that it's changed, a lot of people will be upset. Also, from dawn to 9AM and dusk are horrible times especially in winter hours. That leaves almost no sunlight in the mornings for owners, plus having to deal with slippery grass and mosquitos (both unsafe for dogs) is a huge turn off. Also for owners who feel unsafe at darker hours, it completely deters them from even wanting to go anymore. Yes it's a safe enough area, but those are insane hours.
I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people stop recommending this place or showing up together. It's clear that the people who created the rules and voted aren't dog owners, because they could've made the rules a lot easier for all parties involved, such as "If you see someone approaching you on a trail, you must leash your dog or hold it off to the side until the person is out of site," or having a policy where people can get an off leash pass by passing an obedience test.
There's so many better options that could've been available without basically making this park the opposite of dog friendly. There's literally 133 acres and barely any foot traffic compared to other parks. I think a few well behaved dogs with more reasonable rules wouldn't be that big of a compromise. I'm incredibly disappointed by the community who put these...
Β Β Β Read moreHidden gem! There is an unbelievable amount of beautiful acres and views here. Pack a picnic as this is a great place for one with lots of shade trees. The old golf course paths provide some good trails. There is an old abandoned building too. If you hop off the trails to the west side you can see what looks like an old Frank Lloyd Wright home at the edge of the woods. There also appears to be a community garden. Rolling hills make this quite scenic. I think some of the paths may be wheelchair accessible as they are paved but it is steep. So maybe not the best outdoor place for wheelchairs. Must see place for...
