Recently renovated in 2020, all equipment in the main playground appears new and in great condition. There are two handicapped playground swings (but no traditional swings), a large climber, a few spinning structures, a rock climbing structure, and rope climbing structures.
There is a smaller area below the main playground that has a slide, two infant swings, and a very small climbing structure, but the equipment is old and none of the children at the playground had any interest in visiting this area.
There is a small pavilion abutting the main playground with eight metal circular tables with attached chairs. There is a water play area towards the far end of the playground which was shut down (due to the pandemic, I presume). There are ample seating areas and good shade coverage. Ample paved parking available with clearly marked parking spots.
Abutting the playground is a large field great for soccer, frisbee, football, chasing the birds (sparrows?) that reside nearby, and running around. I saw two batting fences but not any baseball diamonds. A small stream and trail run along the playground, with plenty of tree cover.
Public bathroom was cleanish. Not filthy, but not particularly clean either.
We got takeout in town and ate at the playground and then ran around to burn off the calories. Bees and flies certainly present, but didn't notice any other pests such as ants or gnats. About a...
Read moreOver the summer of 2024 I went to Groff Park in Amherst twice. It was a sunny Saturday morning and we were going there for my son's classmate's birthday party. The grounds were great, there was tons of food and the atmosphere was quite nice. My mother in law walked all over the place and I noticed something called the Emily Dickenson trail? The bees were everywhere and there was plenty to do. My daughter enjoyed rolling around on her roller blades while there. Unfortunately we left and got home only to find my daughter forgot her real shoes there at the party. So we had to go all the way back up to Groff park a second time. By this time another birthday party was moving in with lots of toys and gifts and birthday stuff. Luckily we found her shoes and we turned around and went home. Thanks for hosting the party Groff Park and thank you for not stealing my...
Read moreI love this park! There's a play area for children, a field for baseball, soccer or whatever you desire. A nice place to relax. A river for fishing and also the beginning of the Emily Dickinson trail along the river. It's a beautiful place for nature lovers. I highly recommend going, and once you have you'll definitely return. They have added a water park for children. It's a great place for children to cool off on a hot day. They have also updated the play scape. Groff Park is an even better place...
