Channel Islands National Park is the largest chain of islands off the coast of California. Encompassing 5 separate islands, this park offers kayaking through caves, wildlife viewing, white sand beaches, and mountain hiking. One day on Anacapa Island in Channel Islands National Park: 🛥 Board @islandpackers from @channelislandsharbor in Oxnard, California and enjoy the 1 hour & 15 minute ferry ride to the island (be sure to stand upfront for amazing view of the dolphins catching a ride alongside the boat) 🥾 Hike the island stopping at Inspiration Point and Cathedral Cove for extraordinary views of million year old rock formations and the surrounding Pacific Ocean 🦭 Be sure to make a stop at Pinniped Point on the island to overlook sealions sunbathing (on a good day, you will hear them all day long) ⛰ Visit & learn about Anacapa Island Light Station - the historic lighthouse was built in 1932 and has been in service since to guide ships through the Santa Barbara Channel Is Channel Islands National Park on your list to visit? #channelislands #channelislandsnationalpark #nationalpark #hiking #nationalparkservice #california #californiacoast #anacapaisland

I went on a day trip, and it was a photographer's dream. The only drawback is that you can not get too close to the lighthouse because it is a working lighthouse, and the fog horn would do some damage to your ears (there are warning signs). Be prepared to spend all day and be sure to bring your own lunch (the boat to the island only takes cash and has a limited selection). Bring plenty of water to hydrate!! All in all, it was a great day trip and even saw some whales on our way. I would definitely recommend it!!

In the 1990s, we went out to Anacapa Island in a sailboat and once in a 14 ft inflatable out of Oxnard Harbor. It was pretty brutal in the inflatable because we were losing are on the way back. And we had to rotate one person had to Pump Air as the other one was operating the motor. And I was getting a little hypothermic. We went scuba diving both times and caught a lot of fish spearfishing. My dive instructor said yeah it's no problem we could Spearfish here, until the game warden showed up and took all our fish away and gave my dive instructor and his buddies a ticket because they knew that that was a reserve no fishing allowed in less than 30 ft of water. They just didn't tell me about it. They could have taken our equipment and our boat away. And they left me with a warning no ticket. But we caught many Calico bass sheep heads. we brought up some sea urchins and abalone. The game warden was happy he took all that home on to the island where he lives like a hermit. His teeth are all messed up, so it's easy to spot him. With all that being said, it was a...

What an awesome place. We love to anchor at Cathedral Cove, and Kayak along the north side along the rock walls and through the many caves and tunnels. We like to end up under the arch, and pop a cold beer there. It is so close to civilization, yet so far on many levels - it's wild, beautiful, primitive, and is one of those places that helps you realize your place...
