I found that, while there were no Nazgul, nor men of Gondor among them, there were a great many interesting characters to meet along the trails. Of course, this holds true for wherever humans congregate. While there was less congregating and more saying "hello" as you passed, it was evident that the people you greet along this trail are happy to be hiking.
I enjoy beginning my happy hikes at the end. That is, at the sign which says "End" right there where Weir stops. It is kind of circuitous from the actual trails, but I find that many times the line between private and public property blur.
I enjoy ending my happy hikes at The Rock. In don't call it Robber's Roost. Read my review of that place to find out why.

Read moreThe trails here are very poorly signed and there is no map. You can hike a 3+ mile loop by taking the left branch at the trail head. The whole trail is signed as Wier Canyon Trail at that point. Bear right at the next major fork. This "bear right" keeps you on what appears to be the main trail but the left fork is only slightly "less main" ... you'll be coming back this way. It's a bit over 1.5 miles to the Wier Canyon / Deerweed signpost. Turn on to Deerweed and you'll come back to that original fork where you went to the right. It's a hilly climb and the trail is rough. We wore running shoes but next time will wear...

Very well maintained wide trail, a little steep in the beginning but pretty flat to see the bloom. Lots of neighborhood street parking (please be kind to the neighbors).
