This National Park was Everything we wanted in a public park. Fishing was our goal and ohmaugaaawww is there some great spots to post up and cast your line. Be advised now, that this park hosts the yearly AlligatorFest. Therefore, you will see young gators floating, sunbathing and even taking their naps on the waters. Deal is , you don't bother them, they don't bother us. There are many military monuments for study and photos, baseball and basketball amenities and plenty of camping ground and pavement for skate activity. We heard that the waters are brackish so we tried fishing with shrimp and worms. Deal is, the Sun was just too hot on the waters. We got bites but didn't catch any of the baby croakers that were out. I'm told that it's a great Black Drum, Red, and Speckled Trout minefield. I guess you just have to be there at the right time- 103° temps in late July was our problem. Still, we loved finding the Park and we already have a trip planned to return in Sept.

We have gone out there quite a few times to fish, crab, and catch shrimp even. We have caught a few catfish and gar out there. Last time almost caught a big gar. It's fun to bring the kids there are areas of shade on docks further out. The pier when first entering can turn it on at night just be responsible and turn it off when leaving if you're the only one fishing on the pier. There are alligators out there just have to watch your kids and dogs. They are normally swimming around and don't bother you, but it's still a best interest to be vigilant. We had one huge one come at our throw net. The weather thundering it took off. My son and I bring a cooler out with us have a small picnic with sandwiches, chips, and a drink. We make sure to throw all our trash in the trash can. I taught my son it's not cool to litter and take care of the planet he has to walk around in.

This is the park as a kid a use to play baseball there miss them days. It's still beautiful it's amazing but with the statues I absolutely love it while some parts of the country are taken down their statues and history we are preserving our history and our past I'm glad that we have our statues and have put our statues up to preserve our past and that's very important I recommend this park to any family this is part of our history this is a great family atmosphere to have a picnic a party to have a good time to see a beautiful scenery for anything fishing is beautiful I highly recommend...
