A nice park, a great gift center, a disc golfing course, and some live animals in the Nature Center. Really friendly staff- I'd like to inspire to make a few adjustments.... I would give the live animals a larger space and a more natural environment in captivity. Granted these animals are rescued, they still deserve as close to a normal life as a wild animal in captivity should . The reptile, screech-owl and insect enclosures could use a lot more attention when it comes to authenticity. For example , the label in front of a teenage rat snake (named goober) says he likes to live in large trees high up. However, he's stuck in a 30x15 inch glass enclosure. I'm not picking on this place because I know they're doing their best, but the responsibility to give a rescued animal an enriched and healthy life in captivity is a never-ending job. the screech owl was a rescue, hit by a car that destroyed one of his retinas. There's very little foliage, no company, and birds in captivity need to be handled, preened, and have free flight (regularly) to thrive. the huge leather (oiled strap attached to his ankles with the intention of putting on demonstrations) in my opinion does not need to be a 24-hour attatchment. The museum took Extra Care in making this leather strap built for Comfort, however it still did not look fair. I support the museum; whether it's lack of funding, employment or just lack of knowledge, I would change a lot of the way it runs its care for the live...

Read morePretty park with paved mile path plus several hiking trails, the visitor center is fun and the people are very nice, they have a lot for my toddler to play with, and real animals to see. They even have bikes to rent! And the water park is fun. But I had to dock a star because they like almost all other parks spray biocides every fall (without warning) and we wish they’d stop. It’s unattractive to cut the honeysuckle just partially for the sole piece of being able to put herbicides on it. Just cut the honeysuckle to base of the root or the ground and cover with natural material/fibers. No matter your intentions these chemicals eventually end up in the drinking water. They have signs honoring Rachel Carson so I know their hearts are in the right place, I know this is a huge societal issue not just this park. They have a natural meadow that they don't ever mow, for the birds and such, which is amazing! I am so lucky to live 7 minute drive from here so it's my main park even though I try to go to all the parks eventually. There's pretty much never any loose dogs or riff-raff because you need a...
