The lap pool is great. Not too cold. I’ve never had a problem with any staff. The upstairs does get too hot but I think some fans just to move the air is all it needs.
The “fitfluencers”. That was definitely a problem this summer. What’s-her-name literally left her tripod setup and bag occupying two weight machines for over 30 minutes while she was off chatting and doing who-knows-what throughout the facility. Cameras in a gym are bad enough. People who film and leave their stuff blocking machines is just a whole other level. Thank you for taking care of this. I haven’t seen the problem continue lately.
Why are so many guys so often just sitting in the sauna fully clothed with shirts and shorts and socks and shoes on like they literally just came to hang out in there? I just wanna pop in for 10-15 minutes but these guys just SIT in there for 30+… I don’t even know how long. Sometimes also wearing hats and big loud headphones blasting music no one else in there wants to hear? I get the sense some guys say they’re going to “work out” but just spend their time in the sauna playing on their phones then leave sweaty like they actually worked out—but didn’t. The vibe in there is so weird… lol - I don’t know what to make of it. I mean… fully clothed… with socks and shoes… in a sauna. WHY!?
I skip it just because it’s always such a weird scene in there. Seems like every time too. Even at 0500 in the morning… 5-6 guys in there looking like they’re riding the bus to work or something—except in a sauna.
Oh, one more thing… I realllllly appreciate a lil cup of coffee in the morning both before and after working out so big thanks to whoever brews that...
Read moreWe were in Wichita for a family reunion and went swimming here. Checking in and buying tickets was a pain. It seemed like most of the staff weren't sure of what the check in process was. They all kept asking eachother if they were telling us the correct thing. It took a long time for them to help us figure out all the information we had to have and filling our all the waivers. The line started to back up because they were taking a long time with everyone. I also personally felt it was overpriced, they had us pay the same amount for our 7 month old as we did for an adult. I have never had to do that anywhere else.
The pool was nice enough, plenty of fun things to do. However, they will not let little ones, like babies, have a sit in floatie. You will have to hold your baby the entire time. They also made our children wear paper wristbands while there, but the lady that put them on, put them on terribly and they just fell off so we had to go get new ones.
On the positive side they have very nice dressing rooms, super family friendly. Clean restrooms. And free, secure lockers. These are probably the best family friendly locker rooms I have ever been to.
Sadly getting in was such a bad experience that it kind of dampened the rest of our experience. Would not recommend coming here unless you actually live...
Read moreWent to enjoy my son’s basketball game 1/25/25 and while visiting Emma (was working in the gym for games) came up to my 2 year old and took her ball. Made my child cry and when asking for the ball back she refused, I asked her to take away ALL YMCA balls from the kids if she was “removing equipment” like she claimed but she was sassy and rude. She smirked at me and put her hand on her hip with a disrespectful attitude when I told her I was going to report her to the front desk. For someone who works around kids, you’d think she would treat them all fairly! Reported her to Alex the MOD who was very kind and allowed us to borrow another ball for my child to play with then he verified that other kids had the same balls but she only singled us out. Pictures below show other kids playing with the same ball but apparently Emma can’t stand toddlers and had a vendetta against mine specifically. She didn’t apologize when we left, she simply laughed when I told where to have a better day. The YMCA needs to be more accountable for their employees ESPECIALLY if they are going to be around children. Maybe that’s not the job for Emma or the YMCA should better train their staff to be fair in equal in all that they do especially when we all pay to be there and utilize...
