This is a great place to take the family and enjoy the outdoors. Its a good 3/4 mile hike from the parking lot to the cave. The path is well traveled but there are some rocky parts in the trail were you could twist an ankle if you’re not careful. The cave itself is amazing. Bring swimming clothes and an inner tub so that you can travel up river through the cave and out the other side. You can swim through but the water is really cold and you may not make it with a floating device. Im sure as the water level changes so does the experience. The hike back up is no so challenging as much as it is about 8/9 percent grade for the most part and probably around 15 percent towards the top, expect a nice leg burn. Bring water and snacks but please pick up after yourselves. Bring light weight gear as you will also have to pack it out. Bathroom facilities are at the top before you go down. Definitely check...

Nice short hike to a creek crossing a cave. From this road where you can park, and there are plenty of spots, you can go downhill to reach the creek/cave. The actual trailhead is at the beginning of the road, but it can also be accessed through the other side, at the end of the road where you can park. This latter is shorter but steeper and less obvious. Regardless of the way, a loop can be completed in around 1 h, going down and coming back up, and it is mostly shady. This hike is not tough but it can be slippery if you actually want to go all the way down until the cave north and south entrances, so be careful. The cave can be accessed, water-level depending, and it is really beautiful. In summer people can actually go swimming inside. Sadly, there were many empty cans, bottles and trash on the trail and the creek, people are so irresponsible. Still...

It was my first time going. The hike was kimd of short and a lot of up hill down hill hiking. I would recommend packing as light as possible. There are some areas that could be dangers for kids and dogs. some cliffs with no railings so it would be a little scary for them but not impossible. It was a lot cleaner than I expected but still clear signs of litering. when we got to the cave there were some plastic blow up water chairs to use but still, not very good if left there for a long time. Might disrupt the flow of water if it gets caught up in the branches and sticks in the creek. Other than that it was an amazing swim and hike. It is fresh water so if you're not an experienced swimmer, bring safety vests just in case. Highly recommended if you're into hidden swimming...

Where the water is cool and hidden away, Coyote Creek Cave resides. There is a footpath that I recommend wearing decent shoes as the ground changes elevations with rocks in the path. The dirt walking path will take several turns which may take you 10 minutes to get to this cave. The average healthy individual should be able to walk this trail. Definitely not wheelchair accessible. Once you get to the cave, you'll understand why so many people enjoy it. The water in some places inside the cave are at least 6ft deep. There are alcoves which you can store your things so they do not get wet on the ground. There is a side road you can park on and it also has a bathroom on it before you start your descent.

Great place for a mini hike with the kids!there are two trails make sure you take the one pointing to the left , Rocky and some steep areas so wear appropriate shoes. Its incline all the way back up and narrow at some points so make sure you keep an eye on your little ones. For a more moderate hike go down the trail passing the bathroom but not recommended for kids. You can float through the cave so bring a floaty.I didn't go through cave so not sure how deep water is or where the other sides ends. Beautiful place but lots of trash being left behind by people. Bring a trash bag with you if you plan on snacks. About an hour drive (from Stockton)
