The best nature trail around AA area for people just wanting to up the calorie burn on a jog, or to run the energy out of the pup while enjoying nature. Is there a noisy highway on one end?...exposed tree roots...not enough birds, and occasional busy times?...well, maybe. I guess at that point...good luck at purchasing your own oasis on a secluded island.

I am from western MI, so I was spoiled from the lakeshore and all the beautiful trails back there. This one BY FAR reminds me of home in comparison to many others. It's near impossible to get lost; plenty of trails that "loop back around." Don't enter into GPS, it will take you into the middle of nowhere. Bird road the best,...or cross over to Barton and walk back. Weekends do start to get busy around 10-8 in the summer; definitely worth...

We have been here before for Xmas day lunch and did not disappoint, we had a lovely table spacious, horderves on the table when we arrived, we ordered drinks, a bottle of water on the table a nice touch, then our starters we brought to us, very tasty the French onion soup superb. We went up to get our main a delicious carvery, my son a vegetarian was served a really nice goats cheese tart. Then our pudding was served at our table very tasty Xmas pudding, then homemade mince pies, coffee and cream and then chocolates. It was brilliant and very reasonably priced, we have eaten out Xmas dinner for the last twenty years and this is definitely...

wonderful hardwoods, hilly terrain, marked trails, park gets a lot of traffic, but is large so OK, has some benches in great locations, appreciate the shade in the park on hot days. In late March 2021, had unpleasant experience watching an older lady stripping bark off a very old white birch bark tree, probably just to do some craft project, but how inconsiderate, as it can kill the tree, but if not the bark will take 10-20 years to grow back and it is unusual to even see large birch trees in this shaded environment. She left, but damage was...

Took me a bit to find an entrance. Small parking lot (Newport entrance). Beautiful place to hike, but very hilly. Kid & dog friendly, although there were many off leash dogs The trails are qell kept and well marked. Entering from Newport entrance you will hear a lot of road noise at first. But it subsides after a few minutes, as you work your way into the interior of the preserve. There weren't any trash cans in the preserve. So be prepared if your furry friend goes #2.

My wife and I and two daughters took a long walk here on Saturday. The West-most path was a little muddy. It goes by that little creek. We could not stay late enough to hear the birds chirping. My daughters enjoyed climbing on the one large tree. The walking paths are nice, spring leaves over dirt and playful rocks here and there. This is Bird Hills, and so the walking paths go up and down hills. We saw a few people during our walk, but not many. Please like my review.

Trails are crazy confusing if your don't know them but they're beautiful. I found the trails to be challenging but not overly so. I would definitely go back is I had more of the day to explore. It's a really beautiful area. I took lots of photos of the woods as I walked and there were so many great little spots. I went here after therapy and it was the perfect place to recenter myself after a tough session. If I hadn't gotten quite lost, I would've given 5 stars.
