Good Shepherd Healing Ministries Horse Rescue — Attraction in Apache Junction

Good Shepherd Healing Ministry for horses is a wonderful place doing work that I wish was possible for us all to do. The horses that are found or brought in are sometimes very close to death. With the help of Maria Jones and a group of volunteers of which there could always be more, The horses are cared for and treated for cruel injuries and neglect from the people who should have been caring for them. I saw a horse called Just Love Me, she was starved and could barely stand. Another horse bonded with her and helped her to stay alive. It is a miracle that she survived and is doing much better. If I had not seen it myself I wouldn't believe it. I help out as much as I can and would love to see more people helping. The Lord puts things in front of us what we do is in our hands. My mother was looking to adopt a horse here to keep with mine, we come from a ranch which we’ve had for many years with horses and cattle, as soon as we walked in to the facility we were greeted so rude by Maria who assumed that we didn’t know anything about horses compared to her, this small woman was just trying to drive us away and telling us we couldn’t look at any horses even though we had made an appointment already to do just that. I’m not sure if she does this with everyone or just Mexicans since it felt very much like she was attacking us for some reason. I wouldn’t donate or sponsor this facility when they have fancy cars parked outside and the facility doesn’t have much of an investment to it. It seems they are trying to get as much money as they can without even trying to get these horses to go to a good home they can enjoy. They have too many horses here that it’s overpopulated and they would rather receive $300 every month for a year before you can adopt rather than give those horses a...

I love volunteering here at this horse rescue. I have owned horses since age 5 (and riding before that age) and love being around all of the horses. This one horse at the rescue has really captured my heart, and I love her so much!!!
