You could pretty much rate this woods at a 15 out of 10. You will find no better place to experience the black swamp then Goll woods. The extravagant breathtaking views in the fall through the beaten curvy path that cuts directly through the woods. That road the carves its way through the heart of what is left of the swamp in Northwest Ohio isnt quite long enough for my personal preferences. You can walk the trails through this beautiful ancient forest that used to be surrounded by native Americans that is filled with wild lifethat is absolutely with out a doubt some of the most rare, and beautiful creatures that walk this small 48 mile² beautiful Northwest Ohio land. For you thrill seekers there is a cemetery rite in the heart of the woods that carrys some of the most deepest darkest secrets known to man some that will send chills down your spine not letting you sleep at night It can be seen at exactly noon at night on any given weekend. The covered Lockport bridge adds a beautiful scenery and awesome picture taking experiences for your adventures. Throwing rocks off the side of the bridge into the murky depths of the tiffin river makes the most awesomest noises ever! You can drive your car under the bridge and revv your engine and truly show how manly you are. That is to the abundance of women that prawl the area. If revving your engine under that beautiful ancient bridge does not make your woman wetter than the bottom of a ski doo you don't have the right woman. Be sure to enjoy this woods and grasp it all in as I have hugged several trees out there for this is the land of all lands to be seen and you will not be...

The trails are excellent, although you have to keep an eye out for tree roots in some places that are tripping hazards. The show stopper was multiple trees of several species that are absolutely hugh and represent what the Black Swamp forest once looked like. The largest Shagbark Hickory in the state of Ohio; and absolute monster Burr Oaks, White Oaks, Red Oaks, and American Beech. Awesome. Also observed a large hawk that we couldn't identify, plus red breasted woodpeckers and Nuthatches. On the way there and back we observed four American Kestrels on telephone lines, and a...
Read moreGoll Woods is a beautiful, scenic nature preserve with an excellent atmosphere and numerous, well-tended walking paths. Muddy or swampy parts of the trails are supported with a stable wood walkway. Trials are excellently kept clear of fallen trees and excess plant overgrowth, and in many places are lined with gravel, making them easy to walk on. Animal life is abundant, and helpful signs describing certain trees and plant life are located at various intervals along the primary trail. An excellent place to spend an afternoon reconnecting with nature. Advise bringing insect repellent any time between early spring and late fall, as the mosquitoes can...
