2023 The new trail is beautiful. If you have been here before do not go down the stairs. That’s the old trail and it was seriously damaged in the 2021 flooding. The new trail head is about 100 yards East of the stairs and clearly marked. There are steep drop offs here and there, so be careful and make sure children and pets stay safe. Hope you enjoy the new views. Many thanks to those who brought this great hike back to life. ********* Nov 2021 Now closed one 10th of a mile in from the bottom of the stairs. Heavy damage from the November flooding on the Nooksack River. Trail edge is heavily eroded and some trees down over the trail. Sad for those of us who have hiked this spot for years. It will required some significant work to reroute this trail.

Off the beaten path, but totally worth the treck. If you have AWD/good tires you’ll be in better shape. It’s about 6 miles off the end of the county road, which is gravel and filled with potholes. You do need a WA state Parks pass to park. Parking isn’t super clear, but the map here will show you where to pull off to the side for parking. The waterfall is about a 15 minute hike from the trailhead, gorgeous views along the way. There are different trails to head to the top of the waterfall and ones going down to the bottom of it. The water levels right now (6/14) are super high, so I just stayed at the top. Take time to enjoy the nature that surrounds you here. ☯️

Easy to park and well marked forest trail along the Nooksack river. A bit hilly which is good for two legged fitness 😉 and a good 6 miles out and back. Opportunity for the dog to drink the fresh mountain water. Not too crowded or too lonely. Just a...
