The Window Cave in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, offers a truly memorable experience for history buffs and outdoor enthusiasts alike. This hidden gem is not only a natural wonder but also rich in history, making it a fascinating stop for anyone interested in Puerto Rico's cultural and geological heritage. The cave itself features a stunning natural arch, or "window," that overlooks lush surroundings, offering breathtaking views that make the hike worthwhile. The hike to the cave is an adventure in itself, with well-maintained trails that allow visitors to enjoy the local flora and fauna. The tour guide we had was absolutely outstanding, blending in-depth knowledge of the region's history with a personal touch that made the experience feel intimate. They were incredibly attentive, making sure everyone in the group felt safe and comfortable throughout the hike. Whether you’re navigating rocky paths or learning about the cave's significance, the guide ensures the experience is both informative and enjoyable. The tours are offered in both English and Spanish, which makes it accessible to a wider range of visitors. Whether you’re a local or a tourist, you’ll feel welcomed and engaged throughout the journey. Overall, the Window Cave is a must-see spot for anyone in the Arecibo area. With its combination of natural beauty, history, and exceptional guiding, it's a perfect place for both learning and hiking. Highly recommended!...
Read moreHighly recommended!!! RECOMENDADO 100% This is a unique experience my family enjoyed very much. The cost is great for a unique opportunity to explore this cave. Purchasing tickets online was very easy. We got the family pack of 4 for $99.00. Why not pay to help and encourage the local tourism? They keep the premises very clean. Once we got there, we received very clear instructions on where to proceed. We were given clean hard hats, a flashlight and a bottle of water. We used the bathrooms (really clean too) before starting the hike. I would say this is a 3 hiking level, with 5 being hardest. The entire experience is a comfortable hour and a half. The team are expert biologists, the groups are kept small, they kept a slow steady pace which was great to appreciate the flora and fauna and ask questions. Do NOT be scared, the caves are big and spacious, (confia!) this coming from a claustrophobic person. The bats are far up and they do not mess with humans. You will walk into what feels like 3 different caves while walking in. The breeze is cool and feels beautiful. Once you get to the VENTANA, it will take your breath away... Breath!!! It literally feels unreal, like a 3D screen that you want to reach out and touch. An unforgettable experience! I will definitely do it again. La...
Read moreThis place was beautiful and the person leading the tour was a scientist who really knew a ton about the cave and the animals and plants in the area. It was very hot, but they supplied water bottles. They also had nice bathrooms which was great because the gas station nearby said their bathroom wasn’t working.
The only bad thing I would say is that the age limit is confusing. So it says on their website that “children under 3” aren’t allowed on the tour. We had a three year old. But when booking online, it gave the option of age 4-11 or something. So we called and asked if our three year old could come (we had the native Spanish speaker call to try to decrease chance of language barrier and misunderstanding). We were told he was fine to do the tour. We booked it, drove over an hour to get there, and then they asked his age and I said 3…they were not going to let him in so I lied and said I forgot he just turned four.. they need to update their website. It should say “children 3 and under” are not allowed in the tour. I wasn’t about to make one if the adults sit out and miss it after we drive that far in the middle of nowhere and paid for the tour already. Anyway, he did a great job and it was fine, but I could see how some 3 year olds would struggle with all the hiking...
