Trail isn't marked clearly when you get there. To the left is a path that goes along a creek and a couple rock crossings. Be careful crossing these after it rains/snows. To the right is the path that goes along a horse stable. Be careful if you have dogs that spook easily. Both paths meet up after the creek and you walk behind some property. Kind of a strange trail but it's very pretty. We honestly didn't get all the way to the cave because it started raining, but we'll be back to try again!

I had to walk around a bit to find the cave. Hopefully, this will help others. Go east from the trailhead, staying right and follow the IC# markers on the trees. Once you're southeast of the lake, you'll see a gray gate. Go east. You'll see more of the IC# markers. After you pass the IC9 marker, you'll eventually see a cairn with a pile of dry branches nearby. Take that, and you'll get to the fence surrounding the cave.

Easy to follow the trail if you just follow the white diamond marks. But do not recommend this time of the year as the trail was super muddy, we had to literally stop every 15mins to clean our shoes since the mud would add extra 2 lbs weight to the shoe. We returned back after half the way, since the trail was awful and just nothing to view at all. I would say they trail is made just for the sake of horse riding.

The hike itself was easy to moderate. The terrain was flat for the most part, however, there are some rocky sections and a couple of small streams to cross. The trail is well marked with a 3-4 inch sheet metal diamonds attached to the trees. You'll go by Scott's Reservoir and you may encouter guided horse rides, bicyclists, birds and other hikers with their dogs. According to my research, the cave was discovered in the early 1900's by shepherds. The cave is a lava tube that has 3 sections, which is fenced off for safety reasons, but is easily accessible by going under the gate. The site looks like a sink hole and the air coming out from under is 52° year round. It's a pleasant hike...
