Fort Naco, Camp Naco, or Fort Newell began as a camp in the Southwest United States, on the outskirts of Naco, Arizona as part of the Mexican Border Project. Over time adobe and wooden buildings were constructed to house the garrison along with other permanent structures.

This is now a work in progress - as millions of funds have been approved to restore this historic and important site. The reason I gave it four instead of five stars is because there just isn't much to see right now - and what you can see has to be viewed through a chain link fence. It's still worth a stop if you are in the Bisbee or Sierra Vista areas. Kudos to the people improving this site.

It's an amazing time travel - imagining the soldiers - many of the Buffalo Soldiers (Black servicemen) - right on the Mexican border.
