I was excited to visit the Gallery in the Sun in Tucson. Unfortunately, our visit was a disappointing one, not because of the art but because of the rude reception we received from the gallery’s Executive Director when we arrived. Although their website states that all visitors need to be out of the gallery when it closes at 4:00 pm, we thought that our 3:25 arrival time would allow for a short but interesting and enriching visit. When we arrived at the gallery, we were greeted with, “you are late” by the man who happens to be the Executive Director. Since the gallery was still open for business, this greeting was unexpected. My response was “should we leave?” The man replied “no” but stated they would be closing down in 20 minutes. He took our $10.00 per person fee and then asked us if we knew where we were going and gave us a perfunctory lay of the land without any information or suggestions on our to best spend the short amount of time we had. The Director left us with the impression that our interest in the art and our potential purchases were of no interest to the gallery employees. One would hope that someone at an executive level would be more attuned to the importance of a positive customer experience. If the Gallery in the Sun wants all customers out of the building by 4:00 pm, perhaps they should make it a policy to stop allowing paying customers in after 3:00 pm. If this is not possible, my hope is that future visitors are not greeted in the same manner we experienced. Our group will not be returning and I would not recommend this as a stop for...
Read moreIf you're looking for a slice of artistic paradise in Tucson, look no further than the DeGrazia Gallery in the Sun. I recently had the pleasure of exploring this hidden gem, and let me tell you, it exceeded all expectations.
First off, let's talk about the art collection. Wow! I was blown away by the sheer number of pieces on display. From vibrant paintings to intricate sketches, there's something here to captivate every art lover. What really stood out to me was the diverse range of techniques and themes showcased throughout the gallery. It's like taking a journey through DeGrazia's creative evolution, and it's truly inspiring.
Now, let's talk music. As a fan of classical music, I was thrilled to discover the section dedicated to DeGrazia's interpretation of Russian composers. His ability to capture the essence of these timeless melodies on canvas is nothing short of magical. Each painting is a symphony of color and emotion, transporting you to a world where music and art intertwine in perfect harmony.
But the beauty doesn't stop there. The gallery is surrounded by other architectural wonders, including a charming chapel and a tranquil outdoor patio adorned with sculptures and, you guessed it, lots of cacti! It's the perfect spot to soak in the desert ambiance while marveling at DeGrazia's masterpieces.
Overall, my experience at the DeGrazia Gallery in the Sun was nothing short of delightful. Whether you're a seasoned art connoisseur or just looking for a unique way to spend an afternoon, this place is a must-visit. Trust me, you won't be...
Read moreEnjoy everything DeGrazia and could spend forever in his studio and shops there in Tucson. What DeGrazia is .. well it is beyond phenomenal in fact there is no words that can describe what the
DeGrazia family and friends have really shared with the world. One piece of their art doesn’t even come close to telling these amazing artists stories You would have to have been one of the ones that were behind the scenes to really understand how grand this family is. One would have to know the heart and souls of these incredible individuals to fully appreciate the whole story that was the DeGrazia life. I am in awe of their work although I do not know them personally I am a huge believer because in addition to the artwork the DeGrazia lives and experiences are a huge part of what they took to heart; they lent their voice through art to right wrong and to shed light, to lend a hand, to show support and solidarity this is what DeGrazia and their art are truly remarkable unforgettable but unfortunately their lives and work is looked upon by some as a very small piece of history. See for yourself when you visit his studio the enormous amount of talent. Labor intensive art and a commitment to being a visual voice for those who have lost...
