Windy point Lookout is just one of those things that a lot of Tucson people are familiar with, but don't really explore too much. But when you put on the hiking boots and bring yourself a water filled backpack and really dig into it, it is something special.

The Views: The views that you can get from up here are just incredible. it looks out over the Catalina highway as it winds its way up through the mountain passes, and on the other side you can see a large mountain terrain expand before you. There are some obvious trails that lead through this place, on top of some high lookout spots where you can really enjoy some good photo opportunities. To most casual people who pass by, you don't have to come completely prepared for a giant hike in order to get some amazing photo opportunities or enjoy a nice date spot. But for the adventurous few, this place can really lead to some amazing and good hikes, and as well worth your time to really dive deep into it and get out onto the farthest bluffs.

The Hike: if you just want to see the basic areas, the views can be still completely stellar, and are not hard to reach for anybody. Venture a little deeper though, and the hike itself is not overwhelming, although there are some places where I would say it'd be hard for an elderly person in order to get, or someone that doesn't have good balance might want to avoid. Even further and there are some very steep passages, and places where you kind of have to hop along the rocks. To these I would avoid anybody who doesn't have great trust in their spatial awareness. The following are the difficulty levels. 1 being easy, 10 being extremely difficult.

Start of hike / Lookout and general area: 2/10 Paths leading to outer bluffs: 5/10 Paths leading to outer canyon: 7/10

Date Spot: Common. Bring a picnic, some candles, a bottle of wine and find yourself a nice secluded area. As the city lights start to light up, enchant your date. You can't lose.

Here is the break down: Views: 8/10 excellent. Hikes: 7/10 fun, but not the main attraction Romantic...

Windy Point Vista is an absolute marvel of nature! From the moment you arrive, you're greeted with breathtaking 360-degree views that stretch as far as the eye can see. The panoramic vista is nothing short of awe-inspiring, with rugged mountains, vast desert landscapes, and endless skies painting a picture of pure magnificence.

The experience is made even more incredible by the opportunity to hike amidst such stunning surroundings. Whether you're a seasoned hiker or just looking for a leisurely stroll, Windy Point offers trails for every level of adventurer. And as you traverse the trails, the sight of majestic Saguaro cacti standing proudly against the horizon is a sight to behold—a true testament to the resilience and beauty of the desert ecosystem.

But perhaps the most unforgettable aspect of Windy Point Vista is the journey itself. The drive to reach this scenic wonderland is nothing short of spectacular, with each twist and turn revealing new vistas and vistas that will leave you speechless. It's a journey that not only invigorates the senses but also reminds you of the sheer wonder and majesty of the natural world. Windy Point Vista is truly a place where the spirit soars and the soul finds solace—a wonderful experience that will stay with you long after you've left. If you look really close, in 2 of the pictures there's someone climbing the cliff face near the rode-about 90-100ft climb. We went during the week, it is strongly suggested as it can get congested on...

We stop here almost every time we go to Mount Lemmon— And this we've been doing quite a lot lately to avoid the crowds. I warn you though, there can be a lot of people stopping by this area at times and for that reason, we don't stay here for too long. In the end, it's all up to you. I've seen the sun set from this view countless times before but I still get mesmerized every single time i come here. As you can see from the picture, it's a beautiful place to take wedding photos, family portraits, wacky pictures with your friends or an aesthetic back silhouette photo of yourself which I might have done before. At dusk, you'll have a view overlooking the beautiful city lights of Tucson. The view is still as beautiful when the sun is up. There's also a bathroom which anyone can use. I'm not sure if there's any picnic area around the vicinity, but if you drive a few miles up or down the mountain, you'll surely see one along the road. Overall, this place is very beautiful and if you are planning to go to Mount Lemmon, I think you should give it go and stop by this overlook so you can experince it...

Fall is in the air! We love this time of year and, believe it or not, Arizona has many opportunities for enjoying the changing of colors, from early October even to late November/early December! 🍁bookmark for reference, share with a friend! 🍁

So, where to find these fall colors? We have a list of favorite spots below, updated and ready for 2022!
And here are three tips for making your fall experience more enjoyable:
🍁keep tabs on changing colors here. Generally, Flagstaff colors are at their peak the first and second week of October, and Sedona is the third week. Places like Ramsey Canyon in Southern AZ will peak in mid-November, while Boyce Thompson is the end of November.
🍁one of THE BEST ways to check the current colors is to find tagged photos at the location you’re eyeing. This is super easy on Instagram! Example: typing in “Aspen Nature Loop”, and then viewing by Most Recent will show that this trail has yellow tinges in the leaves. The peak is likely another 5ish day away. Or, if possible, call the location and ask about the current leaf conditions.
🍁plan for crowds. It’s just the way it is, especially on weekends. So go early if at all possible, go M-TH if possible, and just have patience.
🍁and before you go out exploring, visit the blog for Arizona pumpkin patches, and itinerary ideas from our past fall travels!
