We got off the river to explore Granny’s house. A 5 minute walk from the ORT River crossing at Jim Bluff. Follow the rapid, hugging the bluff on river left and get off in the middle of the rapid in line with the middle of the island in the river. You’ll see a trail leading to the right (down river). Follow that and you’ll come up on some wooden markers pointing you to the ORT or Centerpoint. Head towards the centerpoint trailhead. I love how many untouched homestead skeletons are scattered around the Buffalo River. This one is in pretty good shape still.

This is a long track down the mountain to get to the cabin. I would recommend seeing Goat Bluff Trail on the way down, and hiking onto Steel Creek along the river bed and stay the night. If not, bring water, snacks, and allow plenty of time to get back up the mountain. You can go in the cabin and look around. It has old remnants of wall paper and an old fireplace inside. Outside has some old knick knacks from daily life a picture of the Henderson's. The stream is close by, so visit the water if you are down this far.

We hiked down from Centerpoint trailhead on Hwy 43. The house is in good shape considering it is about 100 years old and abandoned since 1970s. Took around 2 hours to get out of the valley and back to parking lot.

Not easily accessible but a neat piece of American Ozark history persevered off the beaten path. Their was a book there about the history of the place and family that once lived there. Their was also rhubarb growing on the grounds showing further evidence of what was once a home. If you visit please respect the place so others may also witness...
