I’ve visited Sassafras a few times in the three years I’ve lived in the area. Each time has sadly been worse than the last. I’ve read the google reviews, good and bad. The bad reviews typically say that the individual either… A - had a hard time finding the location… B - didn’t like the wine. Instead of responding to those reviews in a professional manner, the owner chooses to belittle the reviewer by insisting that Sassafras is “easy to find,” or explaining their wine must be good due to how many awards they’ve won. Personally, I find that their location is not as easy to find as the owner insist that it is. I also didn’t find their wine appealing. Sure it may be award winning, but responding with that to my google review will not change my opinion. Besides that, I was disappointed by the service. The employees that have worked each visit are rude and snobbish. I entered curious to ask questions about each wine offering, and was met with an attendant who didn’t seem to want to answer my questions or answered them in an almost sarcastic tone… all while I only wished to gain knowledge about the wine I was preparing to sip. The location is nice, almost enough to give this a two star review, but the ambiance (bad live music, or none at all) mediocre service, and the narcissistic owner that insists their wines are perfect just because they’ve won a few awards adds up to a very poor experience. I highly recommend Railway Winery in Eureka Springs for a...

I am a member of the wine club and this has been such a wonderful experience in trying different wines, learning about wine, and socializing with new friends. I highly suggest becoming part of the wine club. It's a great way for wine lovers to share great wines together. Also, SSV does an annual trip for their wine club members. Past trips were a river cruise to France and getting to experience 4 different French wine regions. This year's trip we traveled to Napa Valley, CA and got to see actual production of wines, visited several Napa and Sonoma wineries with unique tastings at each. Next year, the group will be traveling to the Mediterranean and cruising along to the coast of Italy, Greece and Turkey.
Drew is a great general manager. Gene and Cheryl have created such a unique location for northwest Arkansas. If you haven't been out to see them,. make a trip out there you won't be disappointed. My favorites are Gene's Sassy Syrah (not to be missed) and the SSV Pinot Noir is quite tasty. They also have a beautiful setting for weddings, birthdays, showers and any group events. I like to go out on weekends and listen to the music, have some pizza and drink some phenomenal wine.
This is a family run business and they work so hard to make it special...
