Booked this site from Recreation.gov, based on a recommendation from an acquaintance. Definitely should have done more research! First, park was poorly kept- it appears nature, not rangers nor groundskeepers, or anyone in particular, keeps up the grounds. Our pad was covered with brush and gumballs, only which I was able to see after some other camper moved their SUV & boat. Who parks in an RV pad they didn't pay for?! Terribly rude, but showing of the lack of ranger presence at this site. I paid for lake view, which was only visible on slivers through trees & brush. Where we WERE able to access the water, the bank was so murky & muddy it was concerning for snake presence. To add, on our arrival there was no one present at the check in desk, no attendant, and no check in forms. We left after one night, very dissatisfied. Will never book here again & do NOT recommend anyone with children or...

BEST TAILGATING IN ARKANSAS! Park 2 RVs on just one pad for months on end, with no limits on number of guests or cars (nobody cares). So invite all your pals; they can come and go all night long (nobody cares). Just park your overflow on the pad and the grass of your neighbor’s campsite, even after midnight (the Host won’t say a word, and those nasty campers will depart early the next day, leaving more room for your posse!). Bring your biggest smoker, and a rick of outside wood (nobody cares). Hang a 300-W floodlight 20 ft up in the trees for a true stadium-lot experience (nobody cares). If you forgot your TV, you can still hear all the games nice and loud from anywhere in the grounds, all weekend long (nobody cares). Also a great site to just store your unoccupied RV (nobody cares). Only downside is that tent campers are rumored to season your firewood with warm-filtered...

We went at a bad time (during COVID) and during summer. There seemed to be some confusion about the camping spot being for overflow but there where no signs indicating that spot. But we ablidged and packed up our site and found the last available spot in the park.

Be sure to reserve at recreation.gov before you go or you may not get a spot.

The campgrounds where clean and pretty and excellently maintained. Most campsites have water access Wich was nice. Bathhouse was not so clean and wasp where nesting in the hallway. Assumed because of a busy weekend they just hadn't gotten to it yet.

But other than uncontrollable cuircumstsances this was an excellent...

We loved our stay at tompkins bend last year we stayed in hotspringa and found it to be super crowded and had small sites, this was the complete opposite we had a lovely site. We were only about 50 minutes from hotsprings. The site had a fire pit, table, and lamp post. There were plenty of trees and the water was just a short walk down the loop. The bathhouse were nice but beware you are in nature so the spiders have also decided they enjoy the bathhouse 🤣 cell service was great for at&t. There is also a dump station so you can dump on your way out! Definitely would stay again we had a peaceful quite stay!

Our experience at Tompkins Ben Campground was amazing. We rented Spott 44 on Loop C. It was right on the water and amazing to camp at. The stars were bright and shining. As you walk along the campsite there is quartz laying everywhere. The water seemed really nice in the lake even though we didn't go in. The people camping next to us were floating it and swam in it. Even had people boating camping near us. The park is so clean and the on-site boat was really friendly. We plan on making another trip out there cause of how beautiful it really was.

Second time to camp there, been several years in between. Large campground with electric and water hook ups, along with a dump station. We went in mid November and most of the leaves were down off the trees and it was still very beautiful. We saw an abundance of bald eagles flowing over the lake behind our site, and managed to get a not so good picture of a juvenile bald eagle resting in a tree behind our site. Also heard woodpeckers and loons making a lot of noise.
