This is a unique stop to stop at while at Arlington Cemetery. It's setup as it's own site where three other family members are laid to rest with him and an "eternal flame" is burned at the flower-blanketed grave of John F. Kennedy today in lasting memorial to the assassinated 35th president of the United States. Kennedy's grave, on a green slope of the military cemetery which serves as a national shrine to the honored dead, dominates a broad vista of Washington. It faces directly across the Potomac River toward the marble-pillared memorial to Abraham Lincoln, assassinated nearly a century ago. You can find this site just below the Arlington House. I would make sure to visit.

Note: A coin left on a headstone or at the grave site is meant as a message to the deceased soldier's family that someone else has visited the grave to pay respect. Leaving a penny at the grave means simply that you visited. A nickel indicates that you and the deceased trained at boot camp together, while a dime means you served with him in some capacity. By leaving a quarter at the grave, you are telling the family that you were with the soldier when he was killed.

According to tradition, the money left at graves in national cemeteries and state veterans cemeteries is eventually collected, and the funds are put toward maintaining the cemetery or paying burial costs for...

JFK, was an American politician who served as the 35th President of the United States from January 1961 until his assassination in November 1963. Kennedy served at the height of the Cold War, and much of his presidency focused on managing relations with the Soviet Union. A member of the Democratic Party, Kennedy represented the state of Massachusetts in the United States House of Representatives and the United States Senate prior to becoming president.

Following her second husband's death in 1975, she had a career as a book editor for the final two decades of her life. She is remembered for her lifelong contributions to the arts and preservation of historic architecture, as well as for her style, elegance, and grace. She was a fashion icon, and her famous ensemble of pink Chanel suit and matching pillbox hat has become a symbol of her husband's assassination. She ranks as one of the most popular First Ladies and was named in 1999 on Gallup's list of Most Admired Men and Women in 20th-century America.

Born prematurely, Patrick Bouvier Kennedy lived just over 39 hours before desperate attempts to save him failed, putting the First Family and nation...

The President John F. Kennedy Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery is a profoundly moving tribute to a leader whose words and vision continue to inspire generations. Centered around the iconic Eternal Flame, lit by Jacqueline Kennedy, the memorial symbolizes the enduring legacy and hope JFK brought to America during his presidency. Despite acknowledged human weaknesses and private vices, I deeply respect him for the ideals he voiced and the inspiration he provided to a nation. A leader’s true measure lies in the courage to speak and inspire, not in private matters that remain personal and beyond public concern. The memorial's peaceful hillside location, aligned to overlook the Lincoln Memorial and Washington Monument, offers a place for reflection and gratitude for a man whose leadership defined an era and whose spirit still...
