This is a very well done small Museum. Its primary emphasis is on the mining of coal and the cultural contributions of the immigrants who came to Southeast Kansas in the late 19th century and the early 20th century. They have approximately 12 programs per year that are themed on their quarterly exhibits. These exhibits change every 3 months. It is one of the few museums that if you've not visited in 3 months, you need to return because something...

I had a great experience at this museum. Locally run institutions like this should be supported. Susan gave me a tour of the place and answered a series of questions I had about Italian miners (I asked a lot). She even recommend locations outside of the museum that I could check out. If I ever find my self back in Kansas, I will gladly stop by this museum...

Great place to see the history of an early coal mining community. Neat and multiple exhibits. Very clean and well organized. Has many pictures and old records that afford an opportunity to check back on family and friends from that area. The "welcomers" were very friendly and knowledgeable. Free admission...
