We had a really nice time camping here. There's not that many sites, so even though it was full, it never felt very crowded. There are some nice hikes nearby, although it's worth driving to some of the other parks for some more intense hikes if that's your thing. The rangers were very friendly and helpful, especially when someone tried to snag our site before we got there. The only thing I'd say is some sites are closer together than others, so check the map, and id probably avoid site 6 because there was no tree coverage/nowhere to use a hammock. Also they allow dogs, so... if you don't like barking, I'd take that into consideration. Most were well behaved, but there were definitely some noisy times because of this.

We camped here at site 14 for nights last weekend. The park is beautiful. So many green mossy rocks and the creek is very peaceful. However, the sites are very close together and tight. We had 4 adults with 2 tents and we justttt about fit. Plus the ground is very gravely (make sure you have a good sleeping pad!) which made putting the tent stakes into the ground tough. Also, the bathrooms were clean but the shower had no direct spray and was ice cold. However, despite everything being close together, it was actually very quiet!

I grew up around this park as a kid and I go there still to this day. It has changed a lot over the years because of lack of funding. There still are very nice hiking trails and streams to fish and nice camp grounds. It also has a little playground as well. I really miss the pool that was there once though. In its place is a tiny area that is slowly turning into a swamp. Could be turned into a pond maybe?

Just stopped by for a short walk around to stretch my legs to break up my long drive. I was the only one there besides a crew that was refurbishing all the campsites. Each site has room for a car or truck to park, a picnic table, then a slightly elevated level area that they covered with a material that looked to be a course gray sand for the tent site. If you are tent camping, I'll bet that material would be very comfortable. They also were installing brand new fire rings with a cooking grate above them. There were also trees that were felled and cut up into short lengths. I'm guessing those will be gathered up and split for firewood, then offered for sale. Bring an ax with you, just in case those logs are still there, you would have all the firewood you could ever need for a weekend. There are four parking lots that I could see in my short visit, marked a b c and d. I parked in parking lot B, and therefore my comments are regarding the campsites near that lot. I'm guessing the rest of the parking lots may have a similar number, nine or ten, and similar configuration of tent camping sites on them. The creek that runs alongside most of the sites is about 20 ft wide and is about one to 3 ft deep in some sections. It was pretty swift running, so I don't know if it would be safe to jump in during the hot summer weather, but it sure did look inviting. I stood on the two bridges that spanned the creek and stared down into the water looking for signs of life. I did not see any fish, perhaps if this body of water is stocked with trout, it may have been too early as I visited in the third week of March. Tried to look up the fee schedule, but it was in an area with little to no cell service to my Verizon phone, so be prepared to go off the grid...

Our family was there July 20 and had made reservations for 2 nights in campsite #5. My husband and I were celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary and were camping with our 2 youngest children and our canine fur baby who is almost 15. We arrived a little late around 7:30 PM and we had never been here before. As luck would have it, the park ranger just happened to be behind us as we traveled the park road. We stopped and he introduced himself as Ranger Dan Hartley. He stopped and helped us find our campsite, filled us in with information to make our night go smoothly. He was super friendly and helpful. The campsite and park are absolutely immaculate. We were right next to the creek and we had a blast fishing and observing wildlife, hawks, eagles, great blue heron and deer. We heard whipperwills and owls at night. There are great hiking trails and a wonderful playground for the children. The area was very quiet and we had the entire campground to ourselves. The next day Ranger Hartley stopped by to see if we were doing OK and if we needed anything. He was so nice and very knowledgeable of the area and advised us where to go to scavenge for firewood and what store was nearby if we needed anything. We enjoyed ourselves so much we stayed an additional night and Bev in the park office was also very friendly and nice. The restroom and showers were very clean and this park is now our new favorite place to go camping. Our kids had so much fun and we felt very safe here. If you are looking for a remote, serene camping experience with the friendliest and nicest rangers and staff, then this is the place to go!!! We cannot say enough good things about Reeds Gap State Park!!! It's the best tenting campground in a state park we have ever been to. We...

Absolutely loved our recent two night stay! (sun-tues). We booked because we liked that it is tent only, dog friendly, has a stream, and is a relatively short distance to our place in Harrisburg (about an hour and 15 min). While there, we fell in love with the quaint beauty of the park. The bubbling creek, the tall hemlocks breaking up the sunlight, the moss covered ground all add to its enchanting appeal. It's beautiful.... As most Pennsylvania state parks are. Some "extras" that really sealed the deal for us: flush toilets, hot showers, clean bathrooms, swimmable/splashable creek, good day hikes, well-maintained sites. Speaking of which, we stayed at site #8 which was perfect for us. Spacious, L-shaped layout, close to creek, no site across from us, felt very private even with neighbors at site #9 (no one at sites 6 or 8 while we were there). We determined that sites 5, 8, and 12 were definitely the choice spots for privacy and...
