Montgomery Pike Scenic Overlook — Attraction in Armstrong Township

I tend to appreciate most roadside overlooks but this is one of the best! Easy-on, easy-off, and there's an exceptional payoff. Great views of the valley down below, really scenic, and the field of view stretches surprisingly far. But also, if you're a birder, this is an eBird hotspot, and it's high enough up that it can be great for hawk-watching in particular. I have unfortunately never been here at the right time of day to see much, but looking at the eBird data, I see that if you come through at the right time of day and year, this place is one of the easiest places to see hawks, eagles, and all sorts of other migrating large birds that like to ride the spiraling rising...

Possibly dropped my wallet here and someone found it and kept it of course. It is Williamsport, so I wouldn't expect anything less although I do have this sinking suspicion a friend of mine might have absconded with it. Nothing exciting happened here after hours as I had hoped would. Was hoping for some heavy petting in the dark. Alas, it's not as popular as...

Stopped through after dusk to catch some rest from road fatigue, and the decision to spend an extra ten minutes made a grand difference. Pit stop and scope out the night sky, as it's sprayed with stars. There's a nice sub-horizon view as well with an illuminated runaway.

Steer clear of the benches, ha - spiders have already transformed them...
