Man what a perfect state park . Hidden gem of the south . This place has just about everything to offer.Great campin, (Always be weather aware this is low land so it is prone to flash flooding at times ,it happened while we were here , but did not dampen our time ,but it did others across from us , And at campsite 60 always camp on the little hill next to the water it's the highest and driest point , and a long extension cord if tent campin here .) Well this place is for real call of the wild seen gaters, about walked up on a gater and all its gater and vibrations noises on the wildlife trail, trail held true to its name lol .The fishing was so great I can't complain , bank fishing is really good and plenty of benches around the campgrounds . And still call off the wild gaters there too . So all around a great trip with the hole family and my niece and nephews . So a great time and we will be back and next time I wish to run yo-yos . Beautiful land beautiful country I love it here . Also the kids loved the playground next...
Read moreGreat stay, regardless of the triple digit temps. Her name escapes me, but the lady at the visitors center was very knowledgeable and sweet. Camp ground was in great shape and pretty clean. The sites seem very close together with little room to park. That is my only real complaint. We stayed for 3 nights and there really wasn't many people there (heat possibly) Too hot to hike so can't say much on the trails. This is a recreational park like no other, no swimming, no personal water craft, no wake boats, makes for an all round great time of fishing and site seeing, (bird & gator watching) Oh yeah, the showers are terrible. You almost have to lean up against the wall to get under the head. That being said, we will certainly be back....when its cooler and the fish cooperate. I gave 4 stars bc of the sites & the showers. I'd really like to give it 4.5...
Read moreThis park is not up to date on anything.
The bath house had the heaters blaring even though it was 90° outside, the water in the shower and sink was also only coming out hot. The water spigot at our site didn’t work and the 50 amp plug was missing its breaker, there was electrical tape placed over where the breaker should be. Neither of these issues were told to us ahead of time. The park is right next to a VERY loud highway with massive logging trucks driving through at all hours of the night. The bath house is a very inconvenient walk from the camping B area, it is not a short walk to get to the bathhouse.
Two stars only given instead of 1 due to the nice, helpful ladies working in the office.
We stayed only 1 night instead of 2 because of these issues and we will not...
