Awesome!
Wheelchair friendly? 99% of it is. The 1% is the transition from hanger one to hanger two. A 12-foot stretch of pavement connects the two hangers but it's not made for smooth sailing. Bring a strong person to give you that boost to help you along the way! After that, the floors are smooth enough to sail through. Not a wheelchair user but cant walk a long distance? They have wheelchairs located in the souvenir shop! Just ask 🙂 plenty of space to navigate the hangers with a wheelchair or stroller! Kid friendly? Absolutely! Plan to spend an hour or two here. We spent two hours here but that's because we saw everything! Tickets were $25 for two adults. Donations to the museum are also highly appreciated! Bring a lunch!! They have a picnic area where you can sit and enjoy a show!
I was thoroughly impressed with our trip. I'm not an aviation fan, my husband is. But I was entertained and super impressed myself! I don't want to ruin any surprises so I'll keep all the good details to myself. But it's worth the trip! My only disappointment was how small the souvenir shop is. But! We found something anyway so it was still worth it.
Would absolutely go back. Without a doubt. It...
Read moreVery cool local place to scour through some amazing history. Its a place where you need to spend alot of time at or if you want to spend an hour enjoying the old planes and war memorabilia while listening to some 50's music. We are going to go back in the fall when it's a little cooler in the hangers. If you are looking for a place with all the bells and whistles that offer fun for a short attention span this isn't it. If you want to go and really dive into history by reading the history behind each item this is for you. There is a computer flight simulator which is pretty cool, but the articles on the WWII pilot from Asheboro who made the only known photograph of the Hiroshima blast from his bomber plane, or the Flitsfire plane that was flown by one of the Wrights brothers when he was 77 years old. The fly in is amazing as well, it was a big hit this year with tons of amazing planes. Just a...
Read moreReread:::: Went today on a Tuesday the 27th of April 2021, when not open which I knew, to get use to the roads, and to see what the place looked like in person. Can't wait to get back to visit when open. Thursday through Sunday 1100-1700. Adults are $10; students 7-17 are $5 **For a birthday weekend get away was one of two places that I went to, and no thanks to COVID for a long wait, was finally able to get a chance to enter the museum on the 31st of July 2021. Nice and friendly staff to help with any questions that you may have. Not to many planes on site, probably due to lack of space, but for what is there great history. Special thanks to Joe Noah, and friends to help get the museum going. Don't forget that on the 16th of October there will be a fly-in of planes. Check out the photos to see more. Hopefully, it will happen this year according to the young lady...
