Generally not a fan of “flow” trails because they tend to be about as interesting as riding on the sidewalk.
This trail system is different. The turns are expertly designed with perfectly radiused corners. You can carry speed through all the corners with confidence. To take full advantage of the trail system you should have solid intermediate bike handling skills. If you’re skills aren’t quite there, you’ll just be a little slower.
There is some climbing, but not too bad. Valley Spur is a great change of pace from the more technical trails of Marquette or Copper Harbor.

A very well designed and well marked challenging bike trail🚲 through the woods.
It has everything; whoops, jumps, hairpin turns, berms, tight passages between trees, rocks, roots, smooth, straight runs, switchbacks, climbing hairpin turns, descending hairpin turns. The only thing I can think of that it's missing is a 🌊 water crossing.
It was so much fun. It brought me back 35 years to my days of hair scrambles and Motocross racing.
I did the buckthorn loop. There are several places where you can bail and take the road back to the trailhead if you want.

Read moreCame here for the snow, the grooming and the hills. Well 1 1/2 out of three is okay. Hills yes, grooming was decent on the beginner and intermediate trails--but it was not very good on the black diamond trails. I know it's been a thin year for snow, but the G loop wasn't groomed anywhere near as well as I expected. Apparently they don't do any mowing in the fall either as there's a lot of saplings popping up through the sparse snow. Without a ton more snow, I would bring my rock skis if I was going to do that loop again. Better yet, just stick to the popular...
