A great place for a day hike. This trail is especially great for the beginning hiker because it is level and the entire path is gravel. The path includes shaded forests and open prairie. Read moreNeeds maintenance. Hasn't recovered from the flooding a few years ago. Trail itself is in ok condition. Facilities need general maintenance and cleaning. Stairs to the river are unstable for launching water craft and the trail is still closed south of the center trailhead down to 380. The day we hiked down here there was a person barefoot, red in the face and wringing his hands asking for a ride and pestering people. Not sure how...
Read moreI typically use the 428 trial head. There are a few picnic tables, not much else. The river is the star of the greenbelt for me. Overall, Good spot for biking, hiking or kayaking away from the hustle and bustle of the DFW metroplex while not requiring a full day outting--about 20 minutes from downtown Denton (square also a great stop when you're done with your outdoor adventure).
