Purchased a Groupon for a tour, cheese plate, and souvenir glasses. The tour guide was extremely young (as in, not sure if it's legal for her to work yet. She openly admitted she was "obviously not old enough to drink.") The tour group asked some basic questions, and she was unable to answer any of them. When she did answer, she was just taking wild guesses-- ex: I asked how long it took to build the cellar (which is 40ft x 40ft x 90 ft dug into the hillside by hand) and she said "there were a lot of Germans working on it, so, probably a couple months." (I asked a different worker and she said 4 years.)

The cheese plate was sad. It was premade on a paper plate, still served to us in a Ziploc baggie. The cheese was slimy-- I was skeptical of how long ago it was prepared, so we didn't eat any of it. The wine was just okay, and was served in dixie cups. My husband ordered a "bullfrog" (whiskey spiked margarita) which had TWO dead flies in it. There were no flies flying around, so I really think they had been inside the margarita pitcher. Overall, extremely disappointed. I don't understand how this place has such high reviews. I get it that everyone has "off" days, but man, this...

We've visited Baker Bird Winery several times over the years, and while it's set in a lovely, quiet, historical area, our experiences with the wine flights have been hit or miss. At times, it seems like the bottles may have been open too long, resulting in some wines that were not drinkable. Some selections are fantastic and truly showcase the region's offerings, while others haven't quite met our expectations.

We appreciate the effort that goes into the hard liquor offerings, but they're not our favorite. Additionally, the outdoor furniture seems neglected and could benefit from a good scrubbing and cleaning, as this would greatly enhance the overall experience.

Despite these drawbacks, Baker Bird Winery is definitely worth a stop to try the wines at least once. The charming atmosphere and historical setting make it a unique destination, and we've enjoyed the peaceful ambiance on our visits. We'll continue to return, hoping to see some improvements in the wine selection and...

Well worth the stop! Open Saturday and Sunday 1pm to 4pm. Was suprised at its historic heritage which a tour guide will tell you about in excellent detail. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. Tours are free and even with some hands on learning of how the wine was once made. You can sample the wine for as little as $5 for 5 different samples or even purchase a bottle to take home. The bar serves wine and the cheese to go with it. Just in the corner sits a man playing his acoustic guitar to some very familiar 90s music which I...

We had a lovely experience today. We did the winery tour and our guide, Tanner was great. Very knowledgeable young man and so sweet. We were celebrating our 41st wedding anniversary this weekend. He, along with the ladies in the tasting room (Mindy and Lori I believe) wished us happy anniversary and we were given a cupcake with our charcuterie board after the tour. We purchased a bottle of Catawba to take back home. We stopped over to the bourbon side but it was very busy so we didn’t taste test. Next time. Thanks again.
