Hidden gem alert 💫 Fisher Meadows Park (Avon, CT) Peaceful walking trails, scenic meadows, and perfect fall colors. Great spot for families, runners, and nature photos! #connecticut #autumn #connecticutlife

I love the hiking, views, walk along the Farmington River...all good. And the 8 kiosk signs are very helpful. The stone pillar compass around the water pump tower is like Avon's own stone circle! And now that we know that Paleo Indians worked on that site 12,500 years ago (10,000BC) it's taken on a new and special meaning. Worth the walk in the road to read the kiosks or the red trail along the River. Remnants of the 19th c Farmington Canal are visible too. History abounds and so much to see and experience. All level walking and hiking. Lots of parking at both trail heads. Just GO!

Love this area of Avon, we've been bringing our dogs here for 30+ yrs ... you used to be able to let 'em go off leash, but that's changed in the past decade (a few bad apples always ruin the batch) lots of beautiful trails along the Farmington river and into the woods with a nice wide path (no ticks) surrounding the pond. Many soccer fields here with ample parking too.

This recreation center is on 250.45 acres and is open year-round from dawn to dusk. There is a decent-sized gravel parking lot with a small playground with swings, picnic tables, and a pullup bar. There are two entrances to the trails by this parking lot and playground. I saw a huge field that is used for soccer. On the lake, you can fish and use non motorized boats; a boat launch is available.

This recreation area is suitable for walking, jogging, hiking, cross-country skiing, biking, canoeing, bird watching, picnicing, and camping; for camping, you need to get permission from the Town of Avon.

I walked the red trail then got off that trail halfway and walked by the well pump building; this brought me back to the parking lot. That walk was about 2.54 miles because I didn't want to do the bigger loop. On the AllTrails app, there are two trails in the park; Spring Lake and Fisher Meadows Loops. The walk was easy but there were some flooded and muddy areas. I have a feeling it is buggy in the summer but on this fine sunny March day, it was very pleasant except for getting my sneakers wet. Overall, a great space to enjoy the...

My sister and I got our pocketbooks with wallets stolen today here at the park....around 1230pm. Car door locked....window down about an inch..but just enough for them to grab and go. The parking lot was filled with other cars and people. Cops called. Terrible situation and please no bashing...just making everyone aware.. especially kids play soccer here. This is a beautiful park...had a beautiful walk...love how clean it is... my sister has been there many times. We will return believe me and will be...
