Avondale Lake is a very nice area to walk around, sit on benches or wooden swings, and enjoy watching ducks, geese, and even a blue heron. There is a peninsula with a medium sized gazebo, and some open green areas, which offer enough space for a picnic with family and friends. North of the peninsula is an old boy scout building, and behind that is a small trail area that leads back to Berkeley road, with one swing as a relaxation point. That area, the "North Woods", can be a relaxing walk, but is being revitalized for an even better experience. By the way, the Avondale fireworks display that occurs here every July 4th (except during COVID) is one of the most spectacular in the Atlanta area.
