We spent a Sunday outing after Thanksgiving walking the trails with our grandchildren. There are many trails to explore and that are level and clear of obstacles. We loved the fall colors of the oaks, looked at the interesting stones with fossilized clam shells, and also noticed the abundance of prickly pear cactus off the trail. We went to a an outlook that had view of the lake. There is a small outdoor visitors center with pictures of plants and small animals that live in the area.

This place really is a true gem. It’s fairly easy to walk but there are few steeper inclines to navigate at times. If you can walk the whole trail system you will get a great workout. One of the beauties is how you are rewarded when you get to the furthest spots from the beginning of the trail. There are multiple entry points and you are literally steps away from the lake. So if adventurous bring a suit and get in and relax. Great when it’s 100+ plus outside.

A very good place for treaking. Around 7 Miles track through uneven terrain. Cactus, deers and lot more. In-between, during the treak you can find paths leads to lake. Pets are not allowed. Entry and parking are free. Toilets are tub/ plastic container type. No restaurant at this place. So it's better carry your food and water. I visited this place in October on a Sunday morning around 7.30 am.

We really enjoyed our hike this weekend! It is a busy park but, once on the trails, the crowds thin out and we were able to enjoy nature. The trails we went on were a good mix of easy, relaxing trails and challenging inclines. Distance. markers and the periodic maps of the trails, and benches scattered throughout were appreciated! The interlocking trails allow hikers to expand their distance easily. The only downside was a lack of restroom facilities. We will definitely be visiting it again...
