I took my kids here after the Carolina Renaissance Festival and they had a blast! We had the option of doing our own digging in the creek or simply buying a couple buckets of dirt. We went for the easy option of the buckets as this was our first time gold panning. We spent 2 hours panning, laughing and having fun in the creek and surrounding woods, all while finding bits of gold to take home :-) It's a great way to spend a couple of hours looking for gold. We met another family that had just finished panning the creek and they had a nice container full of gold! I highly recommend coming here if you're looking to do some...
Read moreWe found this place when our attempt to pan in the Uwharrie River didn't work out and it was a wonderful experience. The staff were really friendly and full of great advice and went out of their way to make it a good time. While we only found little flecks of gold, it was super enjoyable and that is the reality of goldpanning.
Overall, this place is well laid out, fully equipped, and definitely worth the $20 a person. (We were there for over 8 hours). Also, there were lots of fun animals that stopped by (frogs, toads, lizards, bunnies, etc).
Definitely shoot to visit...
