Kelso Sand Dunes — Attraction in Baker

The washboard road to get to the parking lot isn’t too bad if you take it slow for about 10 minutes. There are washrooms at the trailhead. It took us 1.5 hours round trip hiking to the top and back down. Visited in early February and a light jacket was enough for the hike in the evening. Fantastic place to go for a walk in the dunes. The sunset is fabulous. My recommendation is for the snakes. After sunset, the snakes come out of the sand because they can hear human footsteps. So it's good to bring a radio and put a station that can talk so that it sounds like several people talking and the snakes go away. I learned that from a...
