The washboard road to get to the parking lot isn’t too bad if you take it slow for about 10 minutes. There are washrooms at the trailhead. It took us 1.5 hours round trip hiking to the top and back down. Visited in early February and a light jacket was enough for the hike in the evening. I wore sandals (Teva’s) and didn’t have to worry about getting sand in my shoe -there were no cactus’s so they were a great option! Don’t forget to bring water for the hike. We saw lots of dogs on the trail (on leash). Stay for sunset if you have the chance!

Where best to stop after traveling multiple tens-of-miles of burned Joshua Tree's flanking your right? I originally envisaged my travails as a Process of Discovery into "Teh Mojave". Not one moment, of every second, of every minute, of every hour did I envision myself Here. Pack plenty of water (iced, preferably), and the stamina to climb ~200m in altitude over many hours, in a Climate edging-towards 45C+ Another World. Give me the stamina to sleep here, one night, that the air might smell like the attainment of such a Success.

It’s a bumpy 10-minute ride to get there. Not sure if I would do it with my car. I decided to go for it since I’m driving a rental. Looks great! I’m not interested in doing the hike but I’m pretty sure it’s worth it! Surprisingly this place has bathrooms in it.

Fantastic place to go for a walk in the dunes. The sunset is fabulous. My recommendation is for the snakes. After sunset, the snakes come out of the sand because they can hear human footsteps. So it's good to bring a radio and put a station that can talk so that it sounds like several people talking and the snakes go away. I learned that from a...
