Very well preserved relic of the Civil War, used during the Battle of Monacacy in July, 1864. A walking trail takes visitors down to the Monacacy River near where the Confederate soldiers were able to cross and Flank the Union soldiers who had set up at the nearby Thomas Farm. Read moreGreat place to hike! Brooks Hill is a little steep and very rocky. Make sure to wear appropriate shoes. River trail can be muddy a couple of days after a rain. Watch out for snakes when weather appropriate. Not much river access, so be careful if trying to go to the water. My dogs( puggle and shih tzu)love this hike. There are no restroom facilities, so keep that in mind. Please be respectful of the cows, they are friendly, but not overly. Don't expect them to run up to...
