Castlewood State Park was the perfect spot for a Saturday adventure! I took my two daughters and a friend, and we had an incredible day hiking, connecting, and soaking in the peaceful beauty around us. The trails are well-kept, with routes for every skill level, which made it easy for all of us to enjoy. We hugged trees and spent time talking about the importance of getting back to a simple life with God at the center, truly feeling His presence in the stillness and natural beauty that surrounded us.
The scenic views were breathtaking, especially along the Meramec River, with sunlight streaming through the trees and creating a peaceful glow over the water. The sounds of wildlife and the occasional breeze rustling through the leaves added to the serene atmosphere. Castlewood’s meadows and forests felt like a world away from the busy pace of life, and it was refreshing to step back and appreciate the simplicity and wonder of nature.
It was a day of quiet reflection, laughter, and joy with loved ones. I would highly recommend this park to anyone looking to reset and reconnect with nature. It's a gem in the St. Louis area that we’ll be visiting...
Read moreEndless stairs, but worth every second once you make it through trail to the top the cliff, the views are absolutely stunning & the most beautiful blue birds I've ever seen!
But Castlewood please add a few guardrails at the top, my daughter and her bff stepped very close to the edge and I was horrified, thank God we were able to warn them and get them away immediately.
Aside from that it is a fun family atmosphere, clean air, nice cool breeze and beautiful views with stunning colors as the sunlight splashed on the various shades of leaves in autumn, just lovely. In various places especially towards the end exciting the cliff, there are massive trees that have strong roots which formed a natural 3-4 steps staircase in the landscape from just from roots and soil; It's mystical looks. This coming from a non nature enthusiast.
At the top you'll gaze at God's creation in wonder and amazement with all it's beautiful variation, it was definitely a sight to behold! Thanks Melissa & Tom for dragging me along, I'd have never known what I was...
Read moreI'm not a nature person at all or one to consider hiking as a fun outing. However, I must say that I was beyond impressed with Castlewood State Park! I am not into exercise or fitness, but I am very much in love with the hiking trail here. It's a beautiful leisurely stroll with minimal exertion that you will wish wasn't over just yet as you reach the end. October is my favorite time to visit with all of the gorgeous colors. We hit the 2.7 miles trail around 10:30 a.m. which takes 2.5-3 hours with resting, gazing, playing & pictures. Afterwards, we enjoy a picnic lunch in one of the open meadows or picnic sites. If you're looking for a free or inexpensive date or family outing that's memorable & enjoyable for everyone, Castlewood will definitely impress you & your loved ones! It's just the perfect amount of outdoor adventure without overdoing it or hearing excessive complaints from tired or bored kiddos. Even the biggest of couch potatoes will love it, so drag your lazy family members too. I promise you...
