This is a nice spot to stop at while visiting Idyllwild. It’s a small lake that you can walk around in 10-15 minutes if you don’t stop. However, there are several nice spots to stop for a photo, watch the turtles, crawdads, and fish. Unfortunately people are lazy and disrespectful with their trash, so there is trash building up on the shores every time we go. Fishing seems to be hit and miss like any small lake. We noticed lots of fisherman tangling their line up in the plants in the water. However, if you go shortly after they stock the lake, you’ll see lots of action with people catching fish.
Lastly, watch out for snakes. In the photos I shared, you’ll see a 6ft rattle snake that went right across the walking path when we last visited. We just let it pass to the other side into the bushes and there was...
Read moreLake Fulmor is perfect for what it is — a small mountain fishing lake, rich with beautiful views (which you can enjoy on a mostly-level 1-mile mostly-dirt pathway around the lake), easy hiking, nearby parking, picnicking, and fishing. As is typical for any mountain in Southern California, bodies of water are rare, which makes this all the more enjoyable — a true visual stand-out in the relatively dry mountains of SoCal.
You don't come here for the boating, nor the swimming, nor the camping, as none of that is available at the lake. But a fun afternoon or morning with the family or your fishing buds? Perfect. You're going to love it.

Keep it open, keep it clean, take care of nature and the wildlife. If you are caught littering/reported that you are littering with proof (photos) & license plate number. You can be fined $1,500.00 for a first time offense. This is true for removing natural elements.
