5 stars for the magnificent beauty. I had to deduct a star because the paved trail was closed. It looks like an awesome trail but I think it's closed due to hazardous water conditions based on the sign. There are three parking lots total. However, there are no sidewalks across the dam. You can walk on the grassy part of the dam, it is high and there are no railings; you can either fall into the street or down the dam face, which would probably hurt a little lol. If you bring small children, hold onto their hands. So many people are there on a nice day to gaze at the wonderful views of the reservoir and hills. Now please open up the trails, it would be an awesome place to take a walk in nature.

WOW! We love it here at sunset and sunrise. So quiet, free parking and plenty of it on both sides. There is a cool trail that said do not trespass that I am intrigued by. I would love to walk the lower area shown in the photos. This place has me c in big back frequently just for photos and drone shots. Did you know an old city is rumored to be below the upper reservoir? They literally forced a whole town out when they built this dam. Dayum that’s messed up…see what I did there? Ok that’s corny….but what an amazing place to catch a view.

My wife and I stop at the overlook of the reservoir on the north western side of the reservoir every time we drive out to the Litchfield hills. This spring we brought our camp chairs and had lunch at the overlook. We stayed and read for about 2 blissful hours. I didn't think that we could beat the views we had here last fall but early spring is also spectacular. Nothing to see but blue skies, endless trees stretching to the horizon and birds floating overhead. Bliss......
