This is a really lovely beach for a classic Rhode Island day trip. There is lots of space to spread out away from the crowds and the water is clean and deepens gradually. Only Barrington residents can park in the lots between 8am and 8pm - even if you pay - so we took the suggestion of the sweet person at the ticket booth and parked in the nearby elementary school parking lot (school was out for the summer) and walked in which was not bad at all. The ice cream truck did come to the lot around 5 or 6 which was a delicious surprise! The beach is next to a residential area and usually has a decent amount of families.
