The Winnie the Pooh trail is a fun hike for all ages.
Entrance is free, but not well marked (GPS helps!)
The trail is so named because it includes a number of stops and signs that reference the Winnie the Pooh stories. You can visit Eeyore's house (a lean-to made of branches), visit Pooh's cave, see a Huffalump trap, visit Christopher Robin's house and much more. This makes it particularly attractive for families.
The trail runs through a woods with a brook, a lake, boulders and some marshy areas. Terrain is hilly with some overhangs. There is a lot of overgrowth and some exposed roots. As such is not suited for strollers and younger children may suffer a skinned knee.
In summer, it can be quite buggy (no surprise). In winter, the area transforms as the lake freezes opening new hiking experiences.
The Winnie the Pooh trail connects with a number of other trails and loops, some of which are not well signed especially if you choose to progress beyond the core Winnie the Pooh trail, e.g. goodwill, melvin, ledges loop. The trail rewards exploration and affords variety for returning hikers.
The Winnie the Pooh trail itself is fairly short (less than a mile), but if you combine it with goodwill, ledges loop, I believe it easily pushes around 3 miles.
Is a fun experience for all manner of hikers, especially those with...

My daughter often gets upset when it's time to go that she didn't actually get to see Pooh or Piglet etc. in the flesh, and that they always seem to be away from home when we go looking...
Read moreNice and easy walk, with the theme of Winnie-the-Pooh spread throughout the trails. Be careful not to fall off track or you'll find yourself on Beauty Hill Rd, and I've had several people say a black bear has been spotted in the area this year. I've been out several times (hoping for a photo 😉) and didn't see any evidence of one. Nonetheless, great trails and...
