We love this dinosaur park. We've been coming for about 5 years now (kids are 8yo and 5yo), and it just gets better and better.
It's essentially a nature trail with large (sometimes VERY large) fiberglass dinosaur statues. The dinosaurs are beautifully made with lots of detail; it helps bring them to life in the minds of children and adults! There are informational plaques at each display that help you learn about each dinosaur; read these or don't, the experience is still a lot of fun.
The facilities are exceptionally clean and well maintained. They've added two new play structures and a misting system to help keep visitors cool. The obvious care and devotion of the owners is much appreciated - it makes for a really wonderful experience each time we go.
This is definitely geared for kids and isn't really an "adventure park". If you're looking for thrills or animatronics, this isn't the place for you. The trail takes about 20 to 30 mins with kids and the vibe is very relaxed. I also agree with other posts that this maybe isn't worth driving a long distance for. We drive about 45 mins and it's a kid-approved way for us to spend the afternoon, but that may not be true for everyone. The trail is also gravel so I'm not sure it's best for everyone with disabilities. We're able to comfortably push a stroller or pull a wagon, but I'm not sure about navigating a wheelchair here.
Set your expectations accordingly and this too could become a...
Read moreWhen I was a kid I remember being so amazed seeing how large these dinosaurs were scaled in the wild. To see a T rex and a stegosaurus standing before me was incredible. Now 18 years later I brought my 3 year old daughter and seeing her be amazed and excited was worth every second. They've expanded the trail and more dinosaurs have been added from when I remembered. Each dinosaur is equipped with a sign detailing info about the dinosaur. The dinosaurs are well maintained and don't look faded or busted up. The gift shop and main entrance has been relocated and expanded with a dinosaur inside that roars and moves for 75 cents! So bring some quarters and watch your kids jump in excitement! It's worth it! They've also added a second playground, the 2 are both well covered and there's a mister nearby. The trail is longer so bring cold water and an umbrella. There are spots that aren't covered by trees. The gift shop has very reasonable pricing and would be best to look around after the walk! A good way to cool off and look around before taking off! This is worth the memories. The entry fee is affordable and a lot better then other places. Overall this was a great experience even in the Texas heat ha ha! The staff was even great and took the time to listen to my daughter ramble on...
Read moreI took the family there for my son's birthday. We had a great time even though it was nearly 100° that day. (We had a much later start than we meant to, so that's not on the park itself.)
Dinosaurs are well placed, no more than a short walk around the next bend. Very lifelike and well taken care of. Some were a little faded due to the sun, but that's to be expected. The store is a bit on the pricey side but they have plenty of options that won't break the bank as well. Staff is courteous and professional. All in all, my son had a great birthday adventure here.
The reason for making it four stars is because in the main playground area there are several jungle gyms. One of them has a PVC structure around it that blows "mist" as a sort of prehistoric ambiance enabler I'm assuming. Unfortunately, because there is no shade above the structure, it burned my eldest when she attempted to climb up the structure. The plastic was hotter than usual due to the water coating it from the mist. It is a simple oversight issue, and most people probably wouldn't use the playground during the Texas summer. A shade above the playground would have made sure it didn't happen. Other than that, a great place to bring your dinosaur-minded kiddos. You can also go alone or with a...
