Dick Young Forest Preserve — Attraction in Batavia Township

My great grandma used to take me here so it is somewhat nostalgic to me. I have been going here for years. It is beautiful! There are so many different ecosystems in one place. You have forests, prairies and swamp like marshes. There are many beautiful wild flowers and plants. You will also see many different insects and tons of animals. Two years ago I saw a snapping turtle in one of the ponds with a 2 foot shell. It was huge! Went to this park the other day and my car was burglarized/ vandalized in the parking lot at Nelson Lake entrance while we were taking a walk down the trail about 2pm. Be aware, parking lot not necessarily safe, (as my case was here) even if there were few other parked cars. As for this preserve - nice long lake trail and park overall as far as nature goes, but not too many people there and way too quiet, almost to the point where I suggest a walking...
