This is easily one of the best parks in the area. About halfway through the trail you will come across both a creek and a barn, making for some neat points of interest along the hike. A couple things about this park…
I loved this park. It reminds me of hikes I'd take as a kid, only more intense. There is a very steep and large ravine. You go down and then up forever, so it's good to get your heart pounding! There are stairs that take you down, down, down, the ravine. (Or up depending which direction you go). This is a nice loop trail that is 1.8 miles, but is one of the harder trails in the metroparks. Great trail up and down hills.
Not for the aged hikers, as the steps can put a hurting on your knees, but if you can do it the trail is great.
Yellow creek near the barn is a dream.
Saw the biggest spider in ohio living under a log in the stream, sorry no pic though :/
Not too busy on most days.
Buckeye trail cuts through the deer trail and if you jump on buckeye trail it is a long hike into the wilderness, it took 6 hours to get back!
