A year ago ... 5 Stars, no questions asked. This year - 2022, they get 1 Star. (only because I can't figure out how to give a ZERO). My wife and I visit and stay in Ada, several weeks over the summer. About 3 weeks ago, on a hot day, I checked the hours on Google. As we drove 16 miles and arrived shortly before 4 PM, staff were kicking everyone out saying they were closing early, due to lack of Lifeguards. Annoying, but I get it. Today, I called the park office and asked if the beach was open and if it would be closing early. She said it was open and seemed quite bothered that I even called to ask the question. So again, we drove about 16 miles to the park. We arrived only to be told that the beach was at 19 people, being the maximum allowed, again due to lack of staff. The real kicker was the sign at the office that said they were full but that season pass holders may enter. This is REALLY ridiculous. At least post something on the park FB page or make office staff aware. Maybe even a free pass for my next visit 'cause let's face it, I'll probably never get to use it....
Read moreWent the other day .keep in mind I'm from NJ & go to the beach(which can run $12 and up plus overpriced parking) we have a few swimming lakes but I haven't been in over 30yrs so it's "new" to me! I'm staying here for a bit visiting my son in college and decided to cook off somewhere and found Ottawa Park .. $5 each!! To me that's a steal!! Clean beach, nice people, well behaved kids AND adults, quiet without being blah, easy parking.. and I could go on!. The woman who took payment was very nice and told me the store has water, chips and various snacks for sale as well .. There is a lifeguard, when she took a quick break everyone gets out of the water, which shows they take safety first! I'll definitely go back while I'm here, I didn't check out the rest because it was just too hot out! One thing ,and I noticed it at a few places down here , these lakes all have the dreaded 1980's metal slide that goes into the water (thankfully with water running down it) if I wasn't so "old" I would've...
Read moreWent to the 50th celebration festival here and had a great time with my boys starting the festival off with a youth fishing derby where my son caught two 12lb bass and a decent sized perch.. Swimming 12 and under was free as well as, food trucks, Zipline, and bounce houses. It was super hot so we mainly stayed at the swimming pond in the water and playing in the sand. Later on Nashville Crush put on a free concert and played for the last two hours. We did come across a complication with my youngest son while swimming. He had developed a bad rash all over both of his arms. After thoroughly washing upon returning home, the rash disappeared by day two. I am assuming he had an allergic reaction the dye they use to color the swimming pond and being that he has sensitive skin and many allergy issues. Other than...
